National Responsible Use of Antibiotics Day
On June 21st, the “National Responsible Use of Antibiotics Day” was observed.
The excessive use of antibiotics is one of the leading threats to global public health. When antibiotics are used unnecessarily, microorganisms develop resistance mechanisms and the effectiveness of therapeutic tools we currently take for granted is lost.
Within the framework of the One Health approach, which recognizes human, animal, and environmental health as one, our group works on the development of new polymeric materials as alternatives to conventional antibiotics that are effective without generating resistance — a necessary path in the face of a problem that is already a present reality. This work is carried out in collaboration with groups from IDAS, IITEMA, and INTEC.
