Visita del Prof. Alexander L. Yarin

El Prof. Dr. Alexander L. Yarin, UIC Distinguished Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, University of Illinois at Chicago visitó las instalaciones de INTEMA el 18 y 19 de diciembre y dictó el seminario «Bio-waste-derived nanofibers formed by solution blowing and electrospinning and their applications in biomedicine and heavy metals removal».

Prof. Yarin  has a Master of Science in Applied Physics from Polytechnical Institute, Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), Russia, a PhD in Physics and Mathematics, and is Doctor of Science in Physics and Mathematics (1989). He was Junior & Senior research associate at The Institute for Problems in Mechanics of the Academy of sciences of the Soviet Union in Moscow and other Russian Institutes. He was also Professor at The Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Since 2006 is Distinguished Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at The University of Illinois at Chicago.

He’s the author of 5 books, 12 book chapters, more than 400 research papers, and 10 patents, is fellow of several academies, foundations, and awarded important prizes.

His research interests are focused on: Nanotechnology, electrospinning of nanofibers, co-electrospinning of core-shell nanofibers, micro- and nanofluidics, deposition of nanocoatings, biodegradable and stimuli-responsive polymers, biopolymer materials and bio-waste utilization in novel nano-textured materials, and many others topics.
