Undergraduate Project in Materials Engineering: “Biofunctional polymeric micro and nanoparticles for ivermectin controlled delivery”.

The main goal of this work is to optimize the process parameters of core-shell micro and nanoparticles obtained by electrohydrodynamic atomization (EHDA) for controlled release of Ivermectin. Bilayer systems are made of an Ivermectin-loaded PCL hydrophobic core and a chitosan-based hydrophilic shell. This biopolymer improves the bioavailability, release profile and also the targeting properties due to its functionalization with folic acid.
